2008 Crossing Prom
On May 16, approximately 75 students enjoyed the Crossing Prom at the 112 Club in downtown Elkhart. A Pre-Prom party was hosted by a few Crossing teachers which included 15 girls getting their nails and hair done. The girls were then transported to the 112 Club in the new Crossing bus, and escorted off the bus by boys who presented them a flower with a Bible verse attached.

Birthday Celebration in Chicago
Rob Staley took two students to Chicago for the weekend to celebrate a birthday. The students experienced the city including spending several hours playing video games at ESPN Zone. This was the first time these guys were in the big city. |
We Got WhEEls
A special thanks to the Goshen Rotary and the Elkhart community for their tremendous support in raising money for our first Crossing bus. The bus has been on the road daily, and we are excited that our students can now be transported safely. |
|
Grants
A special thanks to the following for their incredible support to the Crossing for offering large grants: Elkhart Community Foundation, South Bend Community Foundation, Goshen Health Systems, and the Indiana Youth Institute. There were many other smaller grants awarded to the Crossing by local clubs, organizations, and individuals. Thank you, Michiana, for your terrific support.

CROSSING STUDENTS BUILD MORE THAN CHARACTER
Students from The Crossing lend helping hands along with other volunteers to help out a fellow teen in need. Harley Burke was in a motorcycle accident that left him paralyzed. Students and adults met on a Saturday and built him a wheelchair ramp. This is an excellent example of our students serving others. |
The AmazinGrace

Grace Community Church held its annual Amazing Grace walk/run. All proceeds went to The Crossing. Several students participated and all told Grace Community raised $2,500.00 in donations for The Crossing. |
FAREWELL CHRIS
Chris Russell has been an amazing teacher, servant, and asset to The Crossing in the last several years. He is moving on and taking a position as a youth pastor at a local church. Bye Chris! You will be missed by all. |

GRADUATION!
We celebrated a huge victory on May 31st. We had 53 seniors graduate this year with many going on to college and vocational training. This was a huge accomplishment because in the last four years a total of 54 students have graduated. What a testimony of the great things God is doing through The Crossing! Many of our graduates did not see themselves completing high school until coming to The Crossing, so this was a huge success and accomplishment for them as well.
To see the list of Graduates go here.
You can purchase graduation photo here (look to the right on our website).

Bob Brown
I, Bob Brown, was born in Mason City, Iowa. I graduated from Mason City High School and Minnesota State University, where I received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology and Recreation Leadership. I received a Masters of Science degree in Human and Community Service Administration from Aurora University. I have a wife Rebecca, two daughters Elizabeth and Jessica, and a son Jason. After retiring from a 35 year career in the YMCA, I was seeking a part-time position in the social service sector. I believe strongly in education and what it can do to improve the quality of life for the individual and society. I was attracted to the Crossing because of its faith-based philosophy and its educational approach in assisting the students in fulfillment of their potential so they might become responsible and productive members of our society.
