On Wednesday, the second session had the opportunity to volunteer at the Food Bank. We worked on sorting food and putting together the kids’ lunch boxes. Although all of our students did very well, Donald and Dominic stepped up to the plate and went above and beyond our expectations. At one point, we reached a lull and Mrs. Borke stopped working and began chatting to one of the other volunteers. Donald, still hard at work, told Mrs. Borke to get back to work since that is what they had come there to do!
The Leadership class led Family Time on Friday as practice for taking a more active role with their peers. They showed a short clip on what the saying “When life hands you lemons, make lemonade” means. After the skit, the students shared how they had applied this principle to their lives. It was very profound. The other students seemed to really respond to the stories told by their fellow classmates.
