Brandy (student) and Mrs. Ownbey came up with a table setting and meal all their own. From fancy red plate settings to candles, the table came together for the event. This was a great experience for both of us, working together to raise money for the trip to McAllen, Texas. This is a wonderful way for a student to experience the whole process of preparing for a mission trip. From chicken quesadillas to grilled Argentine-style chicken, the meals were cooked and the tables were decorated to perfection. Family, friends, and members of the church gathered to bid on the table setting and meal of their choice and raised over two thousand dollars for the seventeen people going on the trip. The Crossing offers students many avenues to experience Extended Learning Opportunity (ELO) trips—including mission trips like this one—that they otherwise would not have had. Brandy is both excited and nervous to participate in something she has never experienced before. We are looking forward to what God has in store for this trip. It is a challenge to look beyond ourselves at those around us who are less fortunate.]]>
