Crossing Statement of Faith & Belief

The Crossing strives to provide an environment marked by speech and behavior that is consistent with biblical teaching and principles. As such, all Crossing staff and volunteers are to model our faith and core values in professional settings, their personal lives, and in any public statements (e.g., Social Media). Our Statement of Faith & Belief guides the teaching practices of our character education curriculum, instruction, and programs.

1. The Bible is the inspired Word of God and the lone authority for Christian belief and practice. (2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21)

2. God reveals himself to exist coequal and coeternal in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (Matthew 3:13-17; Genesis 1:26)

3. The Father is the creator and sustainer of all things. (Genesis 1:1-2:4; Revelation 4:11)


4. Jesus Christ is fully God and fully man. His sacrificial death paid for the sins of all people, and his bodily resurrection secured bodily life eternal to all those with faith in him. (John 1:1; Colossians 1:15-20)

5. Only through faith in Jesus Christ can a human being find forgiveness of sins, enjoy a relationship with God, and hold the promise of eternal life. (Romans 10:9-10; Ephesians 2:8-9)

6. The Holy Spirit creates and sustains faith in Jesus Christ. This is the means by which Christians feel conviction of their sin, need for a Savior, and experience the freedom of forgiveness. The Holy Spirit further acts in faith to motivate Christians to live lives transformed according to God’s will. (John 16:7-15; Romans 8:9-11)

7. Human Beings are God’s most beloved creation. They are created male and female in God’s own image, and should be protected from conception to natural death. Sin has broken the fullness of God’s image in creation and separated all people from a right relationship with God. Human beings are conceived sinful and remain under the influence of sin. (Genesis 1:26-28; Psalm 139:13-16; Romans 3:23; Romans 5:12)

8. Relationships are God’s gifts to his creation through which we receive support and encouragement. The most significant human relationship is marriage. In marriage, a male husband and female wife love and honor each other and enjoy the only proper expression of sexual intimacy. (Genesis 2:18-25; Ephesians 5:22-33)

9. God’s Kingdom is all places where God dwells with his people. This includes heaven and earth. God exercises his power according to his own will and out of love for his people at all times and in all places. (Luke 17:20-21)

10. Heaven and hell are actual physical destinations, where all people will end up according to judgment by God. Christ followers are judged according to the work of Jesus Christ alone through faith in him. (Matthew 25:31-45)

Students are not required to adhere to the statement of faith and belief. Students will learn of its tenants, while at the Crossing, through the daily work and service of the staff. Our mission to transform lives is practiced by sharing our faith and belief with each other, our students, and our communities. We welcome all potential students and families to join the Crossing family regardless of faith or belief.
